Tea

The Berliner Kaffeerösterei commissioned me to design a character for each of their teas in the housebrand series. They'll be used on stick-on labels and wrappers.

Batenburg Hellbillie

Made a cd cover for Dutch band 'Batenburg Hellbillie'. These rough farmboys bring a mix of country and psychobilly, inspired by Hank III,  singing about cows, beers, zombies and all that other everyday stuff you deal with growing up on the countryside in the south of Holland.

Needless to say, I had fun doing this! Release date: November 19.

New Shantycrew poster

A great show coming up!

Some travel diary drawings

I've been traveling for a while, and made a bunch of notes and sketches that I need to put on paper properly. Here's a few for starters:

Fritjof

Made some advertising for tea brand 'Schlürf'. This guy is going to be printed on one of those retro metal plates.

Harry Crews

Whilte preparing for my travels to the south, I've been reading a lot of southern fiction and stumbled across the work of Harry Crews. It blew me away! The southern tough guy wrote some amazing books. And since he had quite an expressive head too, I made a portrait.

Easter Sketch

Filling up the last pages of my current sketchbook. Time to start a new one. It's always hard to let go of the full ones...

Proletarian Hymnes

I made a new poster for the Shantycrew. This time the concert is going to be at a leftwing political venue, so we put the emphasis on the working-class character of our songs. First it looked like this, but I found it quite boring, something was missing.

So I inked it, added a sea monster and cropped it a little bit.

Getting close, but I decided a blue color tone would work better. This is the final result:

Tough guy

I saw The Revenant yesterday. That film takes itself mighty serious... I hope Tarantino will be more fun next week!
